Events & Marketing Coordinator (Part Time)
Fortune Academy | Indianapolis, Indiana
Part Time/Hourly Position
$25 - $35 an hour, 20 - 30 hours a week

Fortune Academy seeks a creative, organized, and community-focused Events & Marketing Coordinator to lead school events, marketing, communications, community engagement, and outreach initiatives that strengthen relationships with current families and increase awareness of Fortune Academy throughout the Indianapolis community.
The ideal candidate is an exceptional communicator and project manager who enjoys bringing people together, telling compelling stories, coordinating memorable events, and promoting the mission of Fortune Academy and its work with students with dyslexia and language-based learning differences.
Key Responsibilities
Events & Community Engagement
Lead the planning, promotion, coordination, and execution of major school and community events, including:
Iconic Gala event planning and logistics
Through Our Eyes Breakfast/ Dyslexia Simulation
Fall Festival
Bingo Night
Back-to-School Night/ Curriculum Nights/HS Info Night
Graduation support
Alumni and community engagement events
Guest speaker and educational events
Responsibilities include:
Developing event timelines and project plans
Coordinating venues, vendors, speakers, food, entertainment, and other event needs
Managing registration and guest communication
Recruiting and coordinating volunteers
Overseeing hospitality, setup, event-day execution, and cleanup
Coordinating event promotion and communications
Working with the development team to incorporate sponsors and donors appropriately
Evaluating events and identifying opportunities for improvement
Marketing & Communications
Help develop and implement Fortune Academy’s annual marketing and communications strategy
Manage and coordinate school social media content
Develop announcements, promotional materials, and community communications
Coordinate photography, storytelling, and content highlighting students, staff, programs, and school accomplishments
Maintain consistency in Fortune Academy’s branding and messaging
Coordinate printing and production of school marketing materials
Develop promotional campaigns for events, programs, enrollment initiatives, and community activities
Help maintain and update website content as needed
Identify new opportunities to increase awareness of Fortune Academy in the community
Community Outreach & Partnerships
Develop relationships with community organizations, businesses, schools, and local partners
Coordinate non-fundraising community partnerships and outreach opportunities
Coordinate Dine/Shop to Donate programs in partnership with the development team
Represent Fortune Academy at community events, fairs, networking opportunities, and educational programs
Help expand awareness of dyslexia and language-based learning differences throughout the community
Support alumni and parent engagement initiatives
School & Department Support
Collaborate across departments on communications and events related to:
Athletics
Performing Arts
Parent education
Alumni programs
Admissions and enrollment initiatives
Volunteer opportunities
Staff recognition
Guest speakers
Board and community communications
Core Focus of the Role
This position is primarily responsible for events, communications, marketing, and community visibility.
The Events & Marketing Coordinator is expected to create engaging experiences, tell Fortune Academy’s story effectively, and strengthen connections between the school and the wider community.
Successful candidates will:
Be exceptional planners and project managers
Enjoy coordinating events from concept through execution
Communicate clearly and creatively across multiple platforms
Develop engaging marketing and social media content
Build strong relationships with families and community partners
Serve as a visible and enthusiastic ambassador for Fortune Academy
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in event planning, marketing, communications, public relations, education, or nonprofit work
Education or nonprofit experience preferred
Experience managing social media and digital communications
Experience coordinating vendors, volunteers, speakers, and community events
Strong writing, editing, and organizational skills
Ability to work flexible evening and weekend hours
