Next Week Today 5/6/19

ASL (Billingsley) We will be finishing up unit 9 and reviewing units 4, 5 and 6.  We will have a test covering units 4, 5 and 6 on Thursday! The kids are doing a fantastic job!!

Algebra 1 (Ahearn) - We will begin our lesson over factoring polynomials.

Algebra 2 (Ahearn) - We will be working on story problems involving coins and consecutive integers which is review from Algebra 1.

Geometry (Ahearn) - We will start our lesson on postulates and theorems of triangles, which will lead to proofs.

Pre Calculus (Ahearn) - We will be starting a lesson on arithmetic sequences and series.

Paced Algebra 1 Year 2 (Ahearn) - We will continue reviewing lessons from the year including conversions this week.

Speech and Communication (Dust)- We have visuals. We have completed scripts. We will soon have a green screen. It is now time to rehearse. The students will take turns standing in front of their classmates and presenting their TED Talks with full visuals and use of classroom ‘teleprompter’. The students will provide each other with specific and detailed feedback to help each of them achieve their most impactful TED Talk. Next, Cameras!

Algebra 1 (Dickison): We are wrapping up our lesson on systems of equations. Next week, we will begin our lesson of adding and multiplying polynomials.

Geometry (Dickison): We are moving on from the Pythagorean Theorem and will begin our lesson on postulates and theorems of triangles.

Paced Algebra 1 Year 1 (Dickison): We are wrapping up our lesson on converting equations and will begin learning how to graph inequalities.

English 1 (Dickison): We are working on creating a script and storyboard for our PSA’s. We will be presenting our storyboards to Mr. Casey and will learn about how to create an Imovie. Then...FILMING!

Theater Arts (Pappas): “FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE” will be performed on Friday, May 10 at Theater at the Fort at 7:00. Everyday will be spent preparing for the show. After School Rehearsals are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3:30-5:30.  Out and About will be having dinner before the performance--please plan on attending.

Earth Science (Tulbert)

We just finished Chapter 20 on water in the Atmosphere and will be having the Chapter test on Tuesday.  We will be starting Chapter 21, our last chapter, on Wednesday.

Chemistry (Tulbert)

We are finishing up Chapter 12 and will have a test next Tuesday. After we take the test, we will be studying for the cumulative test in Chemistry, which will be the next week.  After that, we will be working on Chemistry in everyday life--looking at the chemicals we have in our food, personal care products, detergents and cleaners, etc.

English 4 (Carroll)

We are working on projects associated with the novel and movie we’ve been reading/watching.

Economics (Carroll)

We’re wrapping up chapter 4 and starting chapter 5.

Studio Art (Carroll)

We’re wrapping up a unit on found object art.

English 1 (Sheehy)

The students have been working hard on their final projects (which are due Friday, May 10th).  They will be presenting their projects to their classmates and invited guests during their regularly scheduled class periods the following week.

High School OG (Sheehy)

The students continue to grow in their decoding skills and knowledge of roots and affixes.  We are finishing a unit in comprehension on determining the setting, mood, conflict, and resolution of a story or play.  They are practicing writing summaries with the above information.

Studio Art ( Evans) Students from both classes are working feverishly to budget and raise monies to produce their PVC Go-Karts!! Sponsors that have committed to the project will have their logos placed upon the karts as well as digital media advertisement. Material,through donations and purchases are being collected to assemble next week.

Digital Arts (Evans) Both classes are working on designs that support the endurance race event. The teams have researched both past and present examples of racing media to produce their own designs specific to the May 31st event.
