ASL 1 (Billingsley)  The students will be finishing up UNIT 5 next week. Working on a couple of Christmas songs also!! We will not be having a test next week!!!

Next week we will be reviewing and studying for our Final Exam that will take place on Thursday the 20th.  All Freshman take a math final.

Earth Science (Tulbert)

We are studying for the exam (10th graders) this week.  All other ES students will be taking a smaller cumulative test on Monday and the exam is next Thursday.  I have a great Nat Geo movie for 9th and 11th grade students to watch on Tuesday and Wednesday about earth’s history.  When we come back from break and after JTerm, we will be beginning a unit on space and the solar system.

Chemistry (Tulbert)

We are studying for the cumulative test this week; the test is on Monday.  Next Tuesday and Wednesday we will be doing experiments. We finished the first half of Chapter 8 and will pick up where we left off after break and JTerm.

English 1 (Dickison)

This week, we are learning about how to write an effective conclusion paragraph. We are continuing to read The Sword in the Stone. Next week, we will be finishing up our persuasive essays and tying everything together.

Algebra 1 (Thammachack)

We are wrapping up with slope-intercept formula. Next week, we will be reviewing and studying for our final exam on Thursday.

Paced Algebra 1 Year 1 (Thammachack)

We are wrapping up solving unknown variables with one-step equations. Next week, we will be reviewing and studying for our final exam on Thursday.

Geometry

This week, we finished our performance-based learning project and presented a mock proposal for a new gym floor using their knowledge and skills on area and square footage. We will now study and review for our cumulative assessment which is on Wednesday.

English II (Kemper)

Because we have finished up The Crucible this week, our English II classes will be reading short stories next week by Twain, Hemingway and Langston Hughes.

English II (Kemper)

Period Five - We are finishing Of Mice and Men.  Hopefully, I will be able to show the class the movie starring Burgess Meredith and Lon Chaney.

Period Six - We will have finished In Cold Blood and the students have requested to watch the 2005 release of Capote starring Phillip Seymour Hoffman.

Digital Arts (Evans)

Students have completed their personal cover art images currently displayed in the hallway.We will finish our cubism studies using geometric objects and photos next week.

Studio Arts (Evans)

Students have completed their cubism studies through use of traditional illustrations and electronic media using the photo and video montage techniques.

Carroll (English)

We are wrapping up “ Perspectives of Prominent African Americans During the Civil Rights Movement”.   Next week we will be reflecting on the text.

Carroll (Government)

We are wrapping up Final Presentations and preparing to reflect on them as a class on Tuesday, December 18th.

Carroll (Studio Arts)

Students are illustrating short stories.

U.S. History (O’Donnell)

We are on the road to the Civil War.  We will finish our examination of the 3 president prior to the Civil War, looking at each presidents failure to unite the country and avoid a civil war.

Geography (O’Donnell)

We will wrap up the unit on South America before the Christmas Break.

Eng I (Sheehy)

We are writing our topic sentences and outline for our paragraph on “The Once & Future King.  The final copy will be due by next Tuesday, if possible. They are taking a small comprehension test next Monday on Book III, “The Ill-Made Knight.”  Our final day together will be retelling the story orally as a game.

Speech (Dust)

It is Presentation Time! The students have worked hard through this unit on Interviews. This past week they wrote questions to ask, confirmed interview days/time, practiced recording strategies and conducted their interviews. Next week each student will stand in front of the class and deliver a multimedia presentation highlighting their experiences through this interview process. We will hear about things that went well, things that didn’t go so well and what they might do differently the next time they are given the opportunity to interview someone. This should be a wonderful celebration of all they have learned this 1st semester!
